So Happy it's Spring

We're having a lazy Saturday morning-drinking coffee-watching the Soup-browsing the internet.  Soon we are heading outside to clean out the garage and other spring clean up chores such as raking, lots and lots of branches.   Kind of a cool cloudy day but I can't complain after the weather we've had this week.   I have a lot of Easter pictures to share when I get around to downloading them.  Hope you have a nice weekend!
I am in love with lambs ears.  I have a hard time keeping them around.  Last fall, I planted a few and hope they will come up this spring.  They are a beautiful compliment to so many flowers in arrangements.  This color combination with the vase is gorgeous.

On Thursday, we heard the first loons of the season.  Dan heard them in the morning and I heard them after school.  We haven't spotted them yet but we know they're out there.

More Spring Birds!

Over the weekend, I heard the first Mourning Dove of the year.  It is such a beautiful call.  It reminds me of waiting for the bus when I was growing up.  As we stood there waiting, we could often hear their call.
This morning I saw three Kingfishers on the way to school!  They were perched on the electric lines over the open water.  This one (taken from the web) is just ready to start his nose dive.    They also hang along the banks of the lake fishing along the shore.  I can't say for sure but I think they nest in holes along the clay banks like the swallows.  I see them often when I am kayaking.

Happy Easter

We are looking forward to spending Easter weekend in Cyrus & Sisseton!!   Originally, this would have been a 4 day weekend but due to all the snow days I will have to be content with a 3 day and go back on Monday.  Oh well.  Can you believe we had 7 snow days?!!!  I would not bet the house that we are done either-April can be cruel.  Let's hope not though. Enjoy the warmest temp's that we've had in a long time and have a wonderful Easter!  Love-Laurie

Some people have the best sense of humor!

Little Leprechaun

I posted this picture on my Facebook page but know some of you do not have FB yet so I will post it here too.  My nephew Grant is the cutest little guy and his personality matches that smile.

Vintage floral print

I purchased a set of four of these vintage floral prints at least 15 years ago at an auction near Cyrus.  I have made so many copies of them and one time had more of them hanging up than I probably should have.  Maybe I gave you one?! And if not, and you want one let me know!  I ran across this one on another blog and it's a little different than mine but has the same style that I love.

"Big Kitty"

If you click on this picture you will see that she is sticking her tongue out at you!
"What do you want?!!!!"

Hiding out.
She is a big lovely cat with fur as soft as a rabbit.
She is very feisty and I'm just a little bit afraid of her!

Sunday Stuff

This room looks very spring like...
makes me want to redecorate.
Any teacher or writer will appreciate this photo.

This is actually a painting of vintage cookbooks-isn't it neat?

Shadow and Maisy napping in the sunshine in the living room today.
Very smart cats.
Treasures from the BB on Saturday~
Some are gifts-some for me.
That little wristlet was 50 cents-a Coach knock-off.

Eagles in our yard!

We have had eagles in our area and sometimes they fly right over the house, hunting for birds, rabbits or squirrels we presume.  Hopefully not cats! :) On Wednesday morning (day after the big storm) I was able to photograph this eagle who landed in our yard. I zoomed in as close as I could and then cropped the photo after downloading it.  I used my new Canon Rebel EOS which has 10 mega pixels.  I've had it for a couple of months but waited until this morning to download the software.  I'm hoping the 10 mp will allow me to get some better close-up shots.  I'm pretty happy with the way this photo turned out.

Thursday's Deal

I stopped at the Bargain Bazaar after school and discovered that they are starting to put spring items out.  I found this paisley summer top-I love paisley!  The pearl necklace can be doubled up but I think it might be fun long.  Total $ spent.....$3!!!  Now I just need warmer temp's.
I signed up to work again this Saturday with Shirley, it's the final 4 weekend so Dan needs to spend some quality time with his TV.
